FiHS rFactor F1 Racing League

We have the race server up with the rF3 Euro series cars and a list of tracks that it will cycle through. The race length is set for 10 lap sprints, just for fun.

I think for the real Open Season, the races will be about 30 minutes.

Hmn......rfactor crashes when I try to select F3 Euro series in settings, player, series. This continues after 5 attempts to install F3 Euro.

What mistake have I made?

Any suggestions?

Hmmm. Make sure all of it ended up on the right place....

<rFactor>Gamedata\Vehicles\rF3

<rFactor>Gamedata\Talent\rF3Euroseries

<rFactor>Gamedata\Sounds\rF3

<rFactor>rFm\( Three f3Euroseries files )


I think that's all. Often, if things crash as they try to load, there is something out of place.

Oh, and make sure these are the ONLY places those folders and files are.

A little progress has been made, rfactor loads ok, but now the Customize/Vehicle/TeamSelect area is blank...there are no teams/cars to select from.

The mod I downloaded with the link has folders named differently than what you specified in your post:

"<rFactor>Gamedata\Vehicles\F3Euroseries\..........."
instead of
"<rFactor>Gamedata\Vehicles\rF3 "


"<rFactor>Gamedata\Talent\F3Euroseries"
instead of
"<rFactor>Gamedata\Talent\rF3Euroseries"


"<rFactor>Gamedata\Sounds\rF3":
there is no sound file included with the download

"<rFactor>rFm\( Three f3Euroseries files ):
the three files are present and named "F3Euroseries.xxx"


In "<rFactor>Gamedata\Vehicles\F3Euroseries\" I tried renaming "F3Euroseries" folder to "rF3" but rfactor then failed to load.

The readme text accompanying the download has instructions about using included batch files. Those files don't have anything to do with what we're doing, right? Or do they?

I'll keep trying to figure this out. Wish I were SMARTER!

I did some double checking...

I have BOTH
<rFactor>Gamedata\Vehicles\F3Euroseries\
and
<rFactor>Gamedata\Vehicles\rF3

I mistyped on the Talent folder. It IS
<rFactor>Gamedata\Talent\F3Euroseries"

For the sounds, I have 6 files in the rF3 folder and I see another folder called
rF3Engine
which has 10 files


Ooops.

The lack of sounds in a folder is a problem.

I'm now looking at the folder I downloaded to be really sure what we have on the server.

It's F3 EuroSeries 2009 v1.00

In the folder are two folders at the root.
1) GameData
2) rFm

In the GameData folder are 3 more folders
1) Helmets
2) Talent
3) Vehicles

In Helmets there is a single folder called F3. This only has one file inside

In the Talent folder there is one folder called F3EuroSeries which has all the drivers names, etc

In the vehicles folder there are four tga files and a folder called F3Euroseries

In that folder is a bunch of files and another folder called 2009.

In the 2009 folder are ten team folders


Moving back out out of the GameData folder, you have the only other folder at the root. The rFm folder.


So, where are the other sounds files and such from ? They are the stock rF3 series that comes with rFactor.

But there was no rF3 stuff in my rfactor folder except for the that which came with the F3 Euroseries download.

The light starts dawning.......... my FiHS rfactor install is "rfactor lite"! !!

Sure enough, I checked the full rfactor install and there were the "missing" folders, Vehicles\rF3 and Sounds\rF3.

After copying them into place......VOILA! I'm up and running.

Yes, that was it, Brad. I had rfactor Lite and had to add the additional F3 files.
